Spain Departure & port-visit guide

Valencia

Gothic trading halls, painting galleries, Turia Gardens.

Choose La Lonja’s Gothic halls, selected painting galleries at the Museo de Bellas Artes or a manageable Turia Gardens section. Confirm your ship’s berth and passenger exit before arranging both city connections. Valencia also handles partial embarkations, so joining passengers need separate airport, baggage and check-in plans. Timed City of Arts and Sciences attractions and Albufera outings need their own full return assessment.

Start with the time you actually have

On embarkation day, work back from your cruise line’s check-in window instead. Count from when you can get off the ship, or ashore by tender, to the all-aboard time, using ship time. Times on these plans are our estimates, with time to spare; they cannot promise a plan fits your sailing.

Short plans need up to 4 hours in total, medium up to 6, long more than 6. A plan with a connection still to confirm has no total.

Put your day on the map

Select a terminal or place to see its location and open directions.

Open La Lonja de la Seda in Google Maps

Choose a place for its location, then open Google Maps for directions. Confirm the terminal on your cruise documents; a map result does not establish your ship’s berth or an accessible route.

Boarding in Valencia

Partial embarkations need a joining plan

Valenciaport describes interporting, where some passengers start or finish a cruise in Valencia. Follow your own sailing’s terminal assignment and boarding window; the published port-call schedule does not establish your passenger deadline.

Valenciaport: cruise berths, partial embarkations and voyage parking

Getting around

Start from the actual passenger exit

Valenciaport’s 2026 cruise page identifies Transversal and Poniente berths next to the Trasmed passenger terminal for vessels under 300 meters. Confirm your ship’s actual berth, passenger exit, any internal shuttle and return entrance with the line; do not assume every cruise uses the terminal’s adjacent berths. The port also handles partial embarkations and disembarkations.

Protect the return

Our suggestion: confirm the actual passenger deadline, both connections, waiting and clearance. Published leg estimates or ticket prices do not establish a complete transfer allowance.

Published distances start at the maritime station

Valenciaport lists the City of Arts and Sciences at 3 km, Malvarrosa beach at 3.5 km and the city centre at 6 km from the maritime station. These are orientation distances, not verified walking routes or measurements from every cruise berth. Arrange the actual passenger exit, onward transport and return entrance before choosing a visit.

An onboard single and EMTicket have different transfer rules

EMT distinguishes its ordinary single ticket, covering one ride without transfers, from EMTicket in its app, which allows transfers between EMT buses for one hour after activation. Check the current product and price before buying, and activate the app ticket as instructed. An EMT-only product does not establish coverage on Metrovalencia or a cruise shuttle. Confirm the actual port exit, bus stop and return route separately.

EMT València: ticket and transfer rules

MovimEMT needs registration

EMT’s MovimEMT system requires an online account and registration of the payment card before using that product. A physical card and its phone-wallet version count as different supports, so use one consistently. This is an EMT city-bus product; confirm any port shuttle and the actual stop separately. Checked Oct 6, 2026.

Our suggestion: check the actual café or restaurant’s opening, ingredients, payment and complete bill. Public streets or exhibition access do not establish meal service; no current menu price or meal duration is researched here.

Option 2

Take a planned tour

Prefer an organized outing in Valencia? Browse tours with Viator, then check the exact meeting point, departure, inclusions and cancellation terms before booking.

Tour duration is only part of your time ashore. Allow for getting to the meeting point, early check-in, any transfers outside the tour and your return reserve. Confirm the ship’s clock, all-aboard time and any earlier last tender. These results have not been checked against your sailing.

Before you go ashore

How long is the ship in port, and when is all-aboard?

Port hours vary by ship and date in Valencia. Check your sailing itinerary for scheduled arrival and departure, then the onboard app or daily notice for all-aboard, ship time and any last-tender deadline. Subtract clearance, both transfers and a return buffer before choosing an outing. Scheduled arrival is not your guaranteed time ashore.

What should I take ashore?

Take your ship card or wearable, the identification specified in the ship’s port briefing, any tour ticket and a way to pay. Save your terminal name, return deadline and ship’s emergency contact offline. Ask whether your original passport is required for this visit; do not assume a phone photo replaces required identification. Euros (EUR). The European Central Bank identifies Spain as using the euro. Confirm payment methods, the currency charged and the complete bill directly; no exchange rate or whole-day price is established.

How do I get off and back on the ship?

Wait for the ship’s announcement that passengers may go ashore. Follow its gangway, shuttle or tender instructions and any ticketing order. Keep your ship identification ready when leaving and returning. Allow for terminal access checks, queues and security screening before reboarding; tender passengers also need to meet the last return boat.

What should I know about safety around the port?

UK FCDO Spain guidance advises protecting belongings, including against distraction theft, and checking current local disruption and outdoor conditions. Follow local warnings and your ship’s briefing. No blanket passenger-route safety rating is established; regional outings need their own assessment.

Starting or ending your cruise here

For embarkation, use your cruise line’s terminal and check-in instructions. After the cruise, allow for disembarkation, baggage collection and the airport transfer before airline check-in.

Where can I park, and what does it cost?

How do I get from the airport to the terminal?

Valencia Airport (VLC). Aena lists metro lines 3 and 5 from Valencia Airport. Confirm current stops, service, tickets and luggage, then the remaining connection to your assigned cruise entrance. A metro connection to the urban maritime area is not a direct airport-to-gangway journey or a complete transfer allowance. How does luggage drop-off work?

Confirm the designated baggage drop-off at your assigned terminal and the time your sailing accepts bags. Attach your cruise luggage tags before handover.
