Start with the time you actually have

Count from when you can get off the ship, or ashore by tender, to the all-aboard time, using ship time. Times on these plans are our estimates, with time to spare; they cannot promise a plan fits your sailing.

Short plans need up to 4 hours in total, medium up to 6, long more than 6. A plan with a connection still to confirm has no total.

Put your day on the map

Select a terminal or place to see its location and open directions.

Open Port Zante cruise terminal in Google Maps

Choose a place for its location, then open Google Maps for directions. Confirm the terminal on your cruise documents; a map result does not establish your ship’s berth or an accessible route.

Getting around

Stay around Port Zante

The port’s waterfront shops and nearby local markets offer a starting point for a town visit. Our advice: save your return gate before exploring farther into Basseterre.

Book a specific return

Our advice: for South Friar’s Bay or Brimstone Hill, agree on the group price, waiting time and exact return pickup before departure. Choose your outing to fit the ship’s actual time in port.

Port Zante town return

Use Port Zante cruise terminal as your return destination; SCASPA lists the ferry terminal and cargo harbor separately. Save the ship’s gate instructions before browsing, and choose a town walk you can shorten. Check the port exit and any assistance locally rather than assuming every gangway-to-town route is step-free. Checked October 6, 2026.

Carambola pickup at South Friar’s Bay

Give the driver Carambola Beach Club at South Friar’s Bay, and agree the return pickup and waiting charges before leaving Port Zante. The club publishes cruise-call lunch and rental service from 9 am to 3 pm; confirm availability for your date. Ask about the drop-off-to-sand approach and assistance before committing. Checked October 6, 2026.

Fortress return to the cruise terminal

Make Brimstone Hill the booked destination and Port Zante cruise terminal the return. Agree the park pickup, driver waiting and both fares; check access to the areas you want if slopes or steps are a concern. The park’s published opening hours do not determine how long you have ashore, so leave additional sightseeing optional. Checked October 6, 2026.

Before you go ashore

How long is the ship in port, and when is all-aboard?

Port hours vary by ship and date in Basseterre. Check your sailing itinerary for scheduled arrival and departure, then the onboard app or daily notice for all-aboard, ship time and any last-tender deadline. Subtract clearance, both transfers and a return buffer before choosing an outing. Scheduled arrival is not your guaranteed time ashore.

Can I explore independently?

Our suggestion: stay around Port Zante and nearby Basseterre for a shorter call. This leaves more flexibility than arranging a cross-island outing. This is our planning suggestion. Compare a ship excursion or reputable independent tour for more complicated outings, including the meeting point and return arrangements.

What should I take ashore?

Take your ship card or wearable, the identification specified in the ship’s port briefing, any tour ticket and a way to pay. Save your terminal name, return deadline and ship’s emergency contact offline. Ask whether your original passport is required for this visit; do not assume a phone photo replaces required identification.

How do I get off and back on the ship?

Wait for the ship’s announcement that passengers may go ashore. Follow its gangway, shuttle or tender instructions and any ticketing order. Keep your ship identification ready when leaving and returning. Allow for terminal access checks, queues and security screening before reboarding; tender passengers also need to meet the last return boat.

What should I know about safety around the port?

Serious crime has occurred. Use licensed taxis and main roads, avoid isolated places after dark and carry only the valuables needed. Camouflage clothing is prohibited, including for children. Confirm the return transport and ship deadline before an independent island outing; these precautions are not a route safety assessment.
