Tokyo

Tokyo Bay views, garden paths, Asakusa street life.

Choose Odaiba Seaside Park public spaces, available Hamarikyu Garden paths or selected Asakusa streets and Sensoji exterior views. These are separate outings with different city connections. Haneda and Narita arrivals require their own terminal, baggage and cruise-joining allowance.

Option 1

Explore on your own

Choose a plan for the stops, food, walking and extra costs. Before sailing, arrange luggage storage and follow your cruise line’s check-in window and final boarding deadline. On a port call, use the ship’s all-aboard time to set your return.

Start with the time you actually have

On embarkation day, work back from your cruise line’s check-in window instead. Count from when you can get off the ship, or ashore by tender, to the all-aboard time, using ship time. Times on these plans are our estimates, with time to spare; they cannot promise a plan fits your sailing.

Short plans need up to 4 hours in total, medium up to 6, long more than 6. A plan with a connection still to confirm has no total.

Put your day on the map

Select a terminal or place to see its location and open directions.

Open Odaiba Seaside Park in Google Maps

Choose a place for its location, then open Google Maps for directions. Confirm the terminal on your cruise documents; a map result does not establish your ship’s berth or an accessible route.

Getting around

Start from the assigned arrival

GO TOKYO identifies Tokyo International Cruise Terminal in the Odaiba area. Confirm your actual ship, terminal entrance and joining instructions. Yokohama is a separate cruise port; nearby rail stations and water-bus landings do not establish the final passenger connection.

Protect the return

Our suggestion: confirm the actual passenger deadline, both connections, waiting and boarding procedures. Complete transfer times, route distances and fares remain unverified.

Airport arrival

GO TOKYO distinguishes Haneda and Narita connections to Tokyo International Cruise Terminal. Confirm the airport, baggage, outward transport, station-to-terminal access and current joining window. Published transport legs are not a complete airport-to-gangway allowance.

Two different station approaches

GO TOKYO describes Tokyo International Cruise Terminal Station on the Yurikamome Line as roughly eight minutes on foot from the terminal. Tokyo Teleport on the Rinkai Line is a separate approach, approximately 15 minutes on foot, with a free station-to-terminal shuttle when cruise ships are in port. Confirm the shuttle’s actual operating hours and your sailing’s entrance. These are published local approaches, excluding queues, luggage and check-in.

GO TOKYO: cruise terminal rail and shuttle access

Yurikamome has dedicated contactless readers

Yurikamome lists tap-to-ride payment at all 16 of its stations using supported cards or mobile devices at dedicated readers. Use the same card or device at entry and exit; a physical card and its phone-wallet version cannot be swapped during the ride. Each passenger needs their own payment method, and this product charges adult fares only. Check a suitable child ticket and separate payment rules for connecting rail lines. Allow separately for the station-to-cruise-entrance approach.

Make room for lunch

Check the chosen place

Our suggestion: check the actual café or restaurant’s opening, ingredients, payment and complete bill. Public spaces or exhibition access do not establish meal service; no current menu price or meal duration is researched here.

Option 2

Take a planned tour

Prefer an organized outing in Tokyo? Browse tours with Viator, then check the exact meeting point, departure, inclusions and cancellation terms before booking.

Tour duration is only part of your time ashore. Allow for getting to the meeting point, early check-in, any transfers outside the tour and your return reserve. Confirm the ship’s clock, all-aboard time and any earlier last tender. These results have not been checked against your sailing.

Before you go ashore

How long is the ship in port, and when is all-aboard?

Port hours vary by ship and date in Tokyo. Check your sailing itinerary for scheduled arrival and departure, then the onboard app or daily notice for all-aboard, ship time and any last-tender deadline. Subtract clearance, both transfers and a return buffer before choosing an outing. Scheduled arrival is not your guaranteed time ashore.

What should I take ashore?

Take your ship card or wearable, the identification specified in the ship’s port briefing, any tour ticket and a way to pay. Save your terminal name, return deadline and ship’s emergency contact offline. Ask whether your original passport is required for this visit; do not assume a phone photo replaces required identification. Japanese yen (JPY). Japanese yen (JPY) is the local currency. Confirm the currency charged, payment methods and complete bill directly; no exchange rate or whole-day price is established.

How do I get off and back on the ship?

Wait for the ship’s announcement that passengers may go ashore. Follow its gangway, shuttle or tender instructions and any ticketing order. Keep your ship identification ready when leaving and returning. Allow for terminal access checks, queues and security screening before reboarding; tender passengers also need to meet the last return boat.
