United States Departure & port-visit guide

Mobile

A downtown square, local history, and the battleship.

Choose a downtown square, Mobile’s history galleries, or the battleship across the bay. The waterfront cruise terminal provides a useful starting point, but each visit still needs a checked passenger route and a return plan. For embarkation, settle the airport, bags and parking before adding sightseeing.

Option 1

Explore on your own

Choose a plan for the stops, food, walking and extra costs. Before sailing, arrange luggage storage and follow your cruise line’s check-in window and final boarding deadline. On a port call, use the ship’s all-aboard time to set your return.

Start with the time you actually have

On embarkation day, work back from your cruise line’s check-in window instead. Count from when you can get off the ship, or ashore by tender, to the all-aboard time, using ship time. Times on these plans are our estimates, with time to spare; they cannot promise a plan fits your sailing.

Short plans need up to 4 hours in total, medium up to 6, long more than 6. A plan with a connection still to confirm has no total.

Put your day on the map

Select a terminal or place to see its location and open directions.

Open Cathedral Square in Google Maps

Choose a place for its location, then open Google Maps for directions. Confirm the terminal on your cruise documents; a map result does not establish your ship’s berth or an accessible route.

Getting around

Airport choice

Mobile Regional Airport (MOB) and Mobile International Airport (BFM) are different airports. MOB lists rideshare pickup at the southwest corner of its main terminal. Confirm the booked airport and current pickup instructions. The authority’s May 2026 update expects the new BFM terminal in spring 2027; that target is not a confirmed opening or a change to your flight assignment.

Make room for lunch

Choose near the activity

Our suggestion: select a food stop near your chosen visit, check ingredients and the full bill, and shorten a queue before reducing the ship-return allowance. Meals are separate from the activity allocation.

What costs extra?

Published information checked Oct 5, 2026. Confirm current prices before paying.

Connections

Confirm both journeys

Price both directions and any waiting. An attraction ticket does not include the cruise-terminal connection.

Entry and purchases

Check the complete charge

Confirm dated admission, optional experiences, meals and purchases separately.

Option 2

Take a planned tour

Prefer an organized outing in Mobile? Browse tours with Viator, then check the exact meeting point, departure, inclusions and cancellation terms before booking.

Tour duration is only part of your time ashore. Allow for getting to the meeting point, early check-in, any transfers outside the tour and your return reserve. Confirm the ship’s clock, all-aboard time and any earlier last tender. These results have not been checked against your sailing.

Find tours for your port visit

Search up to one year ahead. Schedules are indicative; confirm available departure times and your group’s final price on Viator.

Can I walk from the ship?

A downtown terminal does not verify the complete on-foot route. Check the passenger exit, crossings, event barriers and the access needs of your chosen attraction; arrange transport where needed.

Save the cruise passenger entrance

Before you go ashore

How long is the ship in port, and when is all-aboard?

Port hours vary by ship and date in Mobile. Check your sailing itinerary for scheduled arrival and departure, then the onboard app or daily notice for all-aboard, ship time and any last-tender deadline. Subtract clearance, both transfers and a return buffer before choosing an outing. Scheduled arrival is not your guaranteed time ashore.

What should I take ashore?

Take your ship card or wearable, the identification specified in the ship’s port briefing, any tour ticket and a way to pay. Save your terminal name, return deadline and ship’s emergency contact offline. Ask whether your original passport is required for this visit; do not assume a phone photo replaces required identification. U.S. dollars (USD). Confirm transport, admission, food and any additional charges separately. No complete outing budget is established.

How do I get off and back on the ship?

Wait for the ship’s announcement that passengers may go ashore. Follow its gangway, shuttle or tender instructions and any ticketing order. Keep your ship identification ready when leaving and returning. Allow for terminal access checks, queues and security screening before reboarding; tender passengers also need to meet the last return boat.

Starting or ending your cruise here

For embarkation, use your cruise line’s terminal and check-in instructions. After the cruise, allow for disembarkation, baggage collection and the airport transfer before airline check-in.

Where can I park, and what does it cost?

The terminal parking page publishes $23 per day for a regular-size vehicle (checked October 5, 2026). Its FAQ gives a different rate, so confirm the full-stay charge before payment. Follow staff to the deck or directed overflow; the current overflow instructions name 100 Canal Street and a driver shuttle. Prepayment uses your license plate and does not replace the ship’s arrival instructions.

How do I get from the airport to the terminal?

Check MOB or BFM on your booking. Follow the terminal’s directed approach and agree your return at the actual passenger operation. A downtown map pin or the Eslava Street parking approach does not establish a pedestrian passenger route.

What time should I arrive for embarkation?

How does luggage drop-off work?

Drop luggage through your ship’s staffed terminal operation before parking, using the correct tags and keeping documents with you. The parking operator describes baggage offloading followed by deck or overflow parking; confirm the acceptance window for your sailing. Attach your cruise luggage tags before handover. Keep travel documents, medication and valuables in your carry-on. Baggage drop-off is not a promise of early boarding or all-day luggage storage.
