Brisbane

Riverfront parklands, a heritage garden, and selected art galleries.

Brisbane’s riverfront offers parklands, a heritage garden and art galleries, but the cruise terminal is at the river mouth in Pinkenba. Choose one city focus and arrange both terminal connections. On departure day, the check-in window, bags and parking come first; city transport options do not make the terminal a downtown stop.

Explore on your own

Choose a plan for the stops, food, walking and extra costs. Before sailing, arrange luggage storage and follow your cruise line’s check-in window and final boarding deadline. On a port call, use the ship’s all-aboard time to set your return.

Start with the time you actually have

On embarkation day, work back from your cruise line’s check-in window instead. Count from when you can get off the ship, or ashore by tender, to the all-aboard time, using ship time. Times on these plans are our estimates, with time to spare; they cannot promise a plan fits your sailing.

Short plans need up to 4 hours in total, medium up to 6, long more than 6. A plan with a connection still to confirm has no total.

Put your day on the map

Select a terminal or place to see its location and open directions.

Open South Bank Visitor Information Centre in Google Maps

Choose a place for its location, then open Google Maps for directions. Confirm the terminal on your cruise documents; a map result does not establish your ship’s berth or an accessible route.

Getting around

Local transport

BICT currently has no public transport service. Arrange a taxi, rideshare or booked transfer for both directions. Use the designated terminal zone and book a pickup once you have exited and are ready; do not assume a city ferry or airport train reaches the passenger gate.

Port of Brisbane: current cruise terminal and transport

Airport pickup

Confirm whether your flight uses the Domestic or International Terminal. BNE has separate taxi and rideshare pickup areas: domestic rideshare uses the central road beside the Skywalk; international rideshare is reached from Level 2 by following signs behind The Coffee Club. Set BICT at Pinkenba as the destination and confirm the complete fare. Airtrain is not a direct service to the cruise terminal.

The city fare excludes Airtrain and port transfers

Translink currently lists AUD 0.50 fares on its Queensland network, including Brisbane city buses, trains and ferries, but excludes Airtrain. South East Queensland services are cashless. This fare is for the public-transit leg; it does not cover a taxi, rideshare or booked transfer to BICT at Pinkenba. Check the chosen service and fare before travel. Checked Oct 6, 2026.

Make room for lunch

South Bank food choices

South Bank’s Little Stanley Street and riverfront areas offer different dining choices. Our suggestion: choose near your selected parkland area and check opening, ingredients and the full bill. A meal is separate from the activity allocation.

Transport

Price both directions

Confirm pickup, the complete fare and any waiting. City or attraction transport is not automatically a cruise-terminal connection.

Entry and purchases

Keep optional costs separate

Check dated admission, optional experiences, meals and purchases. No complete outing price is established.

Option 2

Take a planned tour

Prefer an organized outing in Brisbane? Browse tours with Viator, then check the exact meeting point, departure, inclusions and cancellation terms before booking.

Tour duration is only part of your time ashore. Allow for getting to the meeting point, early check-in, any transfers outside the tour and your return reserve. Confirm the ship’s clock, all-aboard time and any earlier last tender. These results have not been checked against your sailing.

Can I walk from the ship?

BICT is at Pinkenba, rather than the city riverfront. Walking within South Bank or the gardens does not establish an on-foot route from the ship.

Use your actual terminal. Any quoted walk starts at the location named, not automatically at the gangway. Allow for port access, weather and your walking pace.

First steps ashore

Confirm the cruise entrance before travelling

Brisbane International Cruise Terminal (BICT) is at 1 Cruise Terminal Drive, Pinkenba, also called Luggage Point. Use your ship’s current assignment; a city ferry stop, Portside address or commercial-port entrance is not this passenger terminal.

Your ship confirms the arrival pier and any tender arrangements for your sailing.

Before you go ashore

How long is the ship in port, and when is all-aboard?

Port hours vary by ship and date in Brisbane. Check your sailing itinerary for scheduled arrival and departure, then the onboard app or daily notice for all-aboard, ship time and any last-tender deadline. Subtract clearance, both transfers and a return buffer before choosing an outing. Scheduled arrival is not your guaranteed time ashore.

What should I take ashore?

Take your ship card or wearable, the identification specified in the ship’s port briefing, any tour ticket and a way to pay. Save your terminal name, return deadline and ship’s emergency contact offline. Ask whether your original passport is required for this visit; do not assume a phone photo replaces required identification. Australian dollars (AUD). Check the complete bill and price each connection, admission and food stop separately. No whole-day budget is established.

How do I get off and back on the ship?

Wait for the ship’s announcement that passengers may go ashore. Follow its gangway, shuttle or tender instructions and any ticketing order. Keep your ship identification ready when leaving and returning. Allow for terminal access checks, queues and security screening before reboarding; tender passengers also need to meet the last return boat.

Starting or ending your cruise here

For embarkation, use your cruise line’s terminal and check-in instructions. After the cruise, allow for disembarkation, baggage collection and the airport transfer before airline check-in.

Where can I park, and what does it cost?

Wilson Parking manages BICT’s onsite lots. P1 and P2 require prepayment; P3 offers prepayment and limited drive-up availability. Book for the actual sailing dates and confirm the total, cancellation and vehicle terms. A South Bank, city or airport car park is not an established substitute for cruise parking. No complete parking price is published here.

What time should I arrive for embarkation?

How does luggage drop-off work?

Drop luggage through the cruise line’s staffed operation in the Plaza Area when it is accepting passengers for your ship. The port says luggage trolleys are not available; arrange assistance with your line before arrival if needed. Confirm the handover window before considering a city visit. No separate terminal sightseeing-storage service is established. Attach your cruise luggage tags before handover. Keep travel documents, medication and valuables in your carry-on. Baggage drop-off is not a promise of early boarding or all-day luggage storage.

Three local choices

Starting your cruise

The passenger deadline comes first

Our suggestion: use the cruise line’s arrival window and final check-in deadline. Terminal opening, an attraction booking and the ship’s departure time do not establish when you may arrive.

Luggage handover

Drop luggage through the cruise line’s staffed operation in the Plaza Area when it is accepting passengers for your ship. The port says luggage trolleys are not available; arrange assistance with your line before arrival if needed. Confirm the handover window before considering a city visit. No separate terminal sightseeing-storage service is established.

Port of Brisbane: terminal facilities and luggage assistance

Give longer outings a separate day

Beyond these choices

Our suggestion: Australia Zoo, Moreton Island and the Gold Coast need separate transport, possible fixed departures and return planning. None is included in these three city activities.
